Responsible Gaming

This page sets out practical ways to keep gambling under control, and it states plainly what this site can and cannot do about it. Every page of this build, including this one, carries links to three independent gambling-help organisations: begambleaware.org, gamblingtherapy.org and gamcare.org.uk. Unlike the commercial links on this site, these three carry no sponsored marking, are set to nofollow, and open in a separate tab on the organisations' own websites. This site receives nothing when a reader follows them.

Before you start: fixed limits

Decide the amount you are willing to lose before you begin, and treat that money as already spent the moment you commit to it. Deciding in advance removes the pressure to make an in-the-moment judgement call while you are already engaged in play, which is the point at which judgement is weakest. Never chase a loss by increasing a bet to win back what has gone, since the money already lost has no bearing on the odds of the next bet. Keep gambling entirely out of borrowed money or funds earmarked for essential costs, because that separation is what keeps a loss contained to an amount you chose rather than one that spreads into the rest of your life.

Whilst playing: practical habits

  • Take breaks at set intervals rather than playing until you decide to stop, since a scheduled pause is easier to keep than one left to willpower alone.
  • Involve someone else — a partner, friend or family member — as soon as gambling stops feeling like entertainment, because a second opinion catches a shift in behaviour earlier than self-assessment usually does.
  • Keep track of time spent, not only money spent, since time is easy to lose sight of during play.

What this site cannot switch on

Controls such as deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods or self-exclusion belong to an account held with an operator. This build has no account, no form and no server-side application behind it, so nothing published here can switch such a control on, check its status or enforce it. The eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this build, including on the front page and at the end of every operator listing, but no age is verified on this site itself and no gambling takes place on it; any check of that kind happens at the destination a reader is sent to. No advertising or behavioural profiling network runs on these pages, so nothing here is targeted at a reader who has shown risky behaviour.

Where the controls actually live

Each of the ten operator listings ends with the same line: check availability and the current terms at the destination before claiming anything, since eligibility rules and terms apply there and can change without notice. Everything a reader can actually do with money happens after leaving this site — each operator link redirects to a third party, and from that moment the destination's own rules, checks and account controls apply, not anything published here.
